No. Guests tap their phone on the kiosk or scan the QR code, and either one opens checkout on their own phone. Payment happens there through Stripe, with Apple Pay and Google Pay built in. No card data ever touches the device.
No. The tap and the QR code carry everything needed. The kiosk uses a connection only to flash the thank-you confirmation and sync live totals. If there's no signal, tips still go through and the dashboard catches up later.
Directly to your organization's Stripe account. TipNod never holds your funds.
The kiosk is from $349 one-time at introductory pricing. The platform is $29/mo per organization with unlimited events. Each Nod carries a 5% TipNod fee plus payment processing. For example: a $5.00 Nod is $0.25 to TipNod, $0.44 processing, and about $4.31 to your team.
Today, Nods pool to the event's recipient label and you distribute them. Per-person splitting is on the roadmap.

Yes. Each event has a recipient label: "the bar team," "the band," "St. Jude's."
Your call per event. Charities typically frame Nods as donations. Tax treatment varies; talk to your accountant.
Custom amounts have organizer-set min and max caps, and the checkout shows the amount full-screen for confirmation before payment.
Organizers can refund any Nod through support during beta. Refunds from the dashboard are coming.
