Terms of service

Last updated: June 2026

Working draft. Final terms before public launch.

These terms cover your use of TipNod: the kiosk, the organizer dashboard, and the guest checkout. By creating an account or giving a Nod, you agree to them. TipNod is operated by Wooden Cow Labs.

01

What TipNod is

TipNod is a tipping kiosk and platform for events where there is nothing to buy. The kiosk displays amounts and a QR code; payment happens on the guest's own phone through Stripe Checkout. Organizers create events, pair kiosks, watch tips in a live dashboard, and receive payouts to their own Stripe account. The kiosk is not a payment terminal and never handles card data.

02

Pre-launch status

TipNod is in pre-launch. Kiosks are allocated through demos, and features may change as we build. We will be straight with you about what works today and what is still coming.

03

Fees

Current pricing is published on the pricing page: a one-time kiosk price, a monthly platform subscription, and a platform fee on each Nod (currently 5%) plus payment processing passed through at cost. Fees are disclosed before you commit, and we will notify organizers before any fee change takes effect.

04

Payments and payouts

All payments are processed by Stripe. Tips settle directly to the organizer's connected Stripe account; TipNod never holds your funds. To receive payouts, organizers must complete Stripe Connect onboarding and keep their account in good standing. Stripe's own terms apply to the connected account.

05

Organizer responsibilities

Organizers agree to: describe events and tip recipients honestly, distribute pooled tips to the people they were given for, use TipNod only for genuine gratuities or donations and not for selling goods or services, comply with the laws that apply to their event (including wage, gratuity, charity, and tax rules), and keep their account credentials secure. Tax treatment of tips and donations varies; talk to your accountant.

06

Acceptable use

No fraud, no money laundering, no collecting payments for anything prohibited by Stripe's restricted business list, and no attempts to probe or disrupt the service. We may suspend accounts that break these rules.

07

Refunds

During beta, organizers can request a refund of any Nod through support and we will process it via Stripe. Guests who need a refund should contact the event organizer or email us.

08

No warranties

TipNod is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and we are not responsible for venue connectivity, guest devices, or Stripe outages.

09

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wooden Cow Labs is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or lost profits. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

10

Termination

You can close your account at any time. We can suspend or end service for breach of these terms, with notice where practical. Tips already settled to your Stripe account remain yours.

11

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Wisconsin.

12

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced to organizers by email before they take effect. Questions? Email hello@tipnod.com.
